Custom-Made Story: a 10-Week Intensive Writing Workshop in Fiction, Memoir/Creative Nonfiction, and Hybrid Forms (poetry welcome!) 10 Mondays beginning November 3rd, 2025
Nothing pre-fab! This truly Custom-Made approach is guaranteed to be free of: recycled conventions and formulae; and AI homogenizing creativity-crushers.
The Custom-Made Story course includes:
10-live Zoom classes, recorded for your review; 10-written lectures, including craft discussions; manuscript critiques and consistent support, both written and verbal; stimulating writing explorations; tools for transformative revision; and organic approaches to deepen your understanding of your own writing process/practice.
The class is structured so that I can offer—along with the feedback of other class participants—serious individual attention for each writer’s manuscript and their creative writing process. This is an economical way of getting the same kind of deep critique for your work that I provide in individual consults—along with the varied feedback from other invested participants.
You’ll receive expansive and useful approaches to non-formulaic story craft and story structuring; and stimulating ways to open your creativity and associative powers in language and content. The surprising and generative suggestions for writing explorations can be used to open new writing projects, and/or take great leaps in ongoing projects.
To help generate new approaches and deeper understand of story craft, we’ll also look at a range of global texts (and films for cinematic help with our narratives).
Who is this course for?
Those who write, and want a practice that allows them to explore, discover and write the stories they hold;
those who feel the suffocation, overwhelm, shock and silencing of this difficult time, and want to liberate their ability to express—through writing;
those who have written much and are gathering, expanding, revising, structuring, and polishing their work;
those who have not written much and are wanting to!; and,
those who love a good story, a good poem, a good book, and a good time in community with others who share this love of/need for writing.

a very dear friend in the Midwest, and her neighbors, are giving out ramen soups, and mac and cheese, for Halloween Trick or Treats—while the bloated ballroom bully cuts food assistance for people who need it! If you’re in a position to do something similar in areas that would benefit, please do! Hunger, which I experienced longterm long ago, is a misery. Watching your children experience it, a horror I have never known directly.
